UDetroit Cafe is one of the coolest places you've probably never been - Crain's Detroit Business

Nathan Skid Crain's Detroit - When my coworker Shawn Wright first told me about U Detroit Café, located at 1427 Randolph St. in Paradise Valley, I admit I was nonplussed. I've been burned by the promise of live music too many times so I mistakenly wrote it off as another bar with some singer-songwriter crooning about the misfortunes of his or her life. That is until two weeks ago he told me a l...
Motor City's Burning - Detroit from Motown to the Stooges Part 4 BBC
Просмотров 46 тыс.12 лет назад
Documentary looking at how Detroit became home to a musical revolution that captured the sound of a nation in upheaval. In the early 60s, Motown transcended Detroit's inner city to take black music to a white audience, whilst in the late 60s suburban kids like the MC5 and the Stooges descended into the black inner city to create revolutionary rock expressing the rage of young white America. Wit...

really?...you couldnt say call me back?..wtf rick
There are articles on former Cleveland, Ohio’s TV personalities, and everyone is listed but Mattie Majors. I was curious as to why she was not included, but now I see why. I googled her name and you really can’t find any information about her since she left channel 8 news. does anyone know what she is doing now, or if she’s still alive? She was an excellent reporter.

I'd go with Furnier "Alice" 's band more, MC 5 and also Amboy Dukes for best rockers from the day.
HaHa...and it's 2024 and we have no order other than the new world order.
Needed that! Beautiful!
1:20 People have ALLERGIES Jimmy! OMG the humanity!
Why is it in this documentary they called every white a suburbanite? It's not like their were plenty of white city people.
Rip Wayne Kramer
I ❤ Mark - 💯 pure talent
Born in Detroit in 1964 and raised in the burbs north of the city. Love my State love my city.
It was indeed "The Sound of Young America " at the time, a kid when it had it's heyday it gave us our "Beatles " the Jackson 5, forever greatfull for that.
I so proud to be a native Detroiter ♥
Beautiful place...the true America....luv from Ireland..
Stevie!!
I still have my free John Saint Clair poster.
I was there in 1967. Remember it like it happened yesterday.
And we’re still fighting wars we have no business being in, the military industrial complex is alive and well.

Changing times I was there !!!
Dave Mason, the song's author, has no problem at all with the way GFR added some "funk" to their version back in '71. He's a proud papa!
Don’t let the techno and hip hop distract you; this is ROCK CITY. Even the rappers are Rockstars in the D🤷🏾♂️
Bob Seger was there throughout all of the 60s and 70s and still lives in metropolitan Detroit. He became a bigger act than any of them.
He also didn't let fame drugs & money ruin his life smart Man 👍

Sinclair seems like a depraved perv. I went to concerts in Detroit, all the time, (still do), and I'm glad I never met that hack!
I always wondered what Iggy and Alice thought of each other as showmen. Now I know---it's kind of as I thought. There are similarities and differences. Alice's version of "shock rock" was more polished and orchestrated, where Iggy was more spontaneous and improvised with his presentation
Detroit > San Francisco Detroit > Seattle Detroit > London
Motown left the motor city in 1972
